Why I Ditched the Clutter
Impact-Site-Verification: 139490c2-b4cb-4078-a065-add73e320e2a
This is our first blog post and we’re proud to make it. When I first started working remotely, I thought I needed more: more apps, more gear, more tabs open “just in case.” But the truth? More stuff made me less productive. I am relentlessly minimalistic and I wanted to start a blog to help people with my mind set.
Here’s what I believe now:
- Your tools should reduce friction, not add complexity.
- You don’t need more to do more — you need less that does better.
- Remote work is freedom — your setup should feel like it.
Here are the only digital tools I use to stay organized, creative, and calm — whether I’m working from home or on the road.
| Tool | Purpose | Why I Use It |
|---|---|---|
| Notion | Task + project management | One workspace for everything, no clutter |
| ChatGPT | Brainstorming, drafting | My AI assistant, always ready |
| Google Drive | File storage + backups | Simple. Ubiquitous. Easy to organize |
| 1Password | Passwords + digital security | Peace of mind with one clean vault |
| Grammarly | Writing clarity | Catch typos + improve tone instantly |
| Clockify | Time tracking | Keeps me honest with focus time |
Soon: I’ll link these tools via affiliate platforms like Impact and ShareASale. For now, this is what I truly use daily.
My Minimalist Travel Desk Setup
This setup fits in a single backpack — and works just as well in a hotel room as it does in my home office.
- Anker Soundcore Life Q20 headphones — lightweight, noise-canceling, < $60
- Roost Laptop Stand — folds flat, great ergonomics
- Nomatic Navigator Backpack 15L — expandable, modular, clean look
- Logitech MX Keys Mini — ultra-thin, rechargeable
- Anker Portable Charger — reliable juice on the go
How I Keep My Digital Life Clutter-Free
Every Friday, I run a quick digital declutter sweep:
- Close all tabs but one
- Archive or delete anything in Downloads
- Move loose files to Google Drive
- Clear desktop (physically + digitally)
- Review tasks → set Monday’s top 3 priorities in Notion
Less mess = less mental drag.
What You Can Do Today
If you’re overwhelmed by your remote work setup, try this:
- Pick 2 tools you can delete or consolidate
- Find one item in your workspace that adds noise, not value — and remove it
- Start your own minimalist dashboard (I’ll be sharing a free Notion template soon)
- Grab my full Remote Setup Checklist here (PDF or Notion link — coming next)
Final Thoughts
Remote work is supposed to give you freedom — but if your setup is overloaded, you’re just carrying a digital cubicle on your back.
Try cutting what you don’t need. Travel with less. Work with clarity. That’s what being a Remote Minimalist is all about.
